Director of Sustainable Transport, Liverpool City Council

Andy is a Chartered Engineer, Service Lead and Director with over 30 years of experience of the Highways sector, including expertise in highways maintenance, drainage, asset management, traffic management and emergency planning. He is currently Director of Sustainable Transport, Highways and Parking at Liverpool City Council, leading an ambitious capital delivery programme, which includes the Live Labs 2 project, which focuses specifically on decarbonisation of highways materials and processes to reduce the environmental impact of Liverpool's roads, thus helping the city achieve its net-zero goal by 2030.

Andy welcomes the opportunity to participate in the Interchange environment programme and is looking forward to exploring how Liverpool City Council is enabling lower carbon highway practices to mature, via consideration of streamlined legal, contractual and procurement processes that speed up the adoption of sustainable solutions, alongside a review of the city's road design, construction and maintenance with a focus on minimising carbon footprint.
