Osprey rolls out land acquisition approach to EV hub expansion

Electric vehicle (EV) rapid charging network Osprey Charging has confirmed acquisition of a freehold site in Glasgow where it plans to build an ultra-fast 16-charger hub.

Located by the Phoenix Retail Park in Paisley, the hub will be situated just off the A737 and strategically close to the M8.

The 300kW hub is the second freehold site purchase to be completed by Osprey Charging following the Salmon’s Leap hub in Devon, which opened last year.

Osprey Charging CEO Ian Johnston said, “The purchase of freehold sites is an important strategy for Osprey, as it enables us to build larger public charging locations with greater flexibility over their design.

“The Paisley hub will be crucial in supporting the uptake of EVs in Scotland as well as in meeting growing demand for reliable, accessible and high-quality EV charging across the UK.

“In 2024, we have successfully delivered nine high-powered hubs across various UK locations. As the year progresses, our goal is to complete 30 hubs, which will be a monumental stride in the advancement of our network and fortifying the broader public EV charging infrastructure.”

Osprey Charging says it has installed more than 200 rapid and ultra-rapid chargepoints in 2024, and expects to announce further site acquisitions throughout the summer.
