Renault to install ultra-fast EV network using dealer network

Car manufacturer Renault is to create a European fast-charging EV network through its mobility arm Mobilize. The French carmaker plans to offer 200 charging points from Hamburg to Seville by mid-2024.

Locating the charging stations at Renault dealerships all within five minutes of motorways and trunk roads, Mobilize will install six charging points at each location, capable of peak charging at an ultra-fast 400kW.

The charging stations will incorporate an intelligent load management system combined with battery storage using second life electric vehicle batteries and, in some places, solar power from photovoltaic panels. Mobilize claims the storage system will be able to deliver 600kW of instantaneous power without overloading the local grid.

Constructing the infrastructure at its dealerships also reduces land and construction costs and in many cases will make use of existing customer facilities. The installations will be accessible at all hours, to all EV drivers, and include a rest area offering beverages snacks, toilets, free wi-fi and phone and laptop charging. Mobilize recharge card holders will receive preferential charging rates.

“Mobilize Fast Charge is helping by providing all electric vehicle drivers with access to ultrafast charging points whatever brand they drive,” said Clotilde Delbos, CEO of Mobilize. “To make this happen, Mobilize is leveraging two of Renault Group’s strengths: its granular sales network and Mobilize Power Solutions’ expertise.”
