2025: Regional evidence delivers economies of scale for local strategies & plans

We had excellent attendance to our Roundtable at Interchange, on the balance between local and regional evidence bases. It was a really productive and refreshing conversation, which easily could have continued for longer.

Our participants brought a range of views, from experience of applying evidence to support major engineering projects, influence government and delivery locally.

Key takeaways were to:

  1. Continue to investigate and apply techniques for sharing experience and data (e.g. TfSE Centre of Excellence or the TfN Offer).

  2. As early as procurement, make suppliers aware of data and evidence available for them to use, sometimes planning this ahead.

  3. Take stock of what evidence is needed to progress a decision to the next stage (e.g. trucks off a road, historic collisions) and provide the full evidence at the right stage of decision making.

If you weren’t able to make the conversation please feel free to reach out to simon.lusby@cityscience.com or take a look at our spatial evidence base software www.cadence.cityscience.com.
